Paper has played a key role in the development of most world cultures, and interestingly, each culture has it's own papermaking techniques. In India , papermaking has been inspired more by Western influences than Eastern influences. For example, the original mould -- made of bamboo strips held together by thread, has long been replaced by the traditionally Western mould of a simple wooden frame with a wire mesh stretched across it. Also, the difference in the raw material as well as the method adopted makes the end result distinctively unusual compared to other Asian countries.
